Lampshade Printing Workshop with Studio Zef

This joyous workshop is a chance to explore the beautiful craft of traditional block printing and create your own hand-printed cotton lampshade.
Guided by Grace Franks, the founder of Studio Zef, you’ll spend the session learning how to build a pattern, pair colours confidently, and print directly onto fabric lampshades using Studio Zef’s collection of handmade lino blocks.
The workshop begins with a demonstration from Grace, who will walk through the process step-by-step, sharing her tips and techniques along the way. You’ll then have time to experiment—choosing your blocks, testing out colours, and developing your pattern on paper templates. Once you’re comfortable with the process, you’ll move on to practising on a real lampshade before printing your final design.
By the end of the session, you’ll take home a cream cotton lampshade decorated with your own hand-printed design.
If you’re printing with a specific room in mind, you’re welcome to bring photos or fabric swatches so we can help you match your print to your space.

All materials and equipment will be provided, and you will be given your canvas to inspire you to continue your practice.
